Cathy from Bespoke Banter discovered oomph and the “Gossip Chair” at the High Point market. She was quite taken and why not? It is the most unusual seat in the house. Picture it in front of the fire or dividing an awkwardly long room. How about a place to try on all those gorgeous shoes in your to-die-for dressing room?
A fun Blog Post we discovered!
Oomph – Made in Connecticut*
“No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land” — Helen Keller.
Show your eternal optimism and perennial style with the Fenwick Chart table (left, $1,950).
Leave it to the glamorous ladies at Oomph to create a coffee table that is equal parts educational/nautical resource and household hero.
Like all of their tables, the Fenwick is made in Oomph’s Connecticut Studio. It is available in your choice of 16 luscious and highly lacquered colors with 1 of 4 NOAA charts on top. (Other charts may be available. Call for more details.)
If you are looking for a table with personality, you must visit www.oomphonline.com. With sizes ranging from “tini” to console, they definitely have something to fit both your attitude and your space.
*Not all of Oomph’s products are made in Connecticut but they are all made in the US.
Sometimes as designers, we are tasked with taking something from nature, a favorite place from childhood, or even a style from an exotic place and creating a room or space that evokes that same special feeling. Sometimes we are challenged by something more abstract. Case in point - the “Dream House” rooms at the DC Design Center. They chose eight talented designers and gave them each a piece of JEWELRY to use as inspiration to create their rooms. Charlotte Palmer Lekakos was given this pin and told to create the sitting room in it’s spirit.
We are thrilled that Charlotte chose the Newport Coffee Table in our rich red “bolero” color to be the focal point of her room. We love it’s traditional look but it still has an updated feel to it. Inspiration to us all!
The New York International Gift Show was the location for the unveiling of many new oomph classic pieces. This beauty is a custom 2” table top finished in 100 sheen lacquer with a rustic stone pedestal base. The combination is outstanding and a favorite at the show. We can do any shape and any size - oomph loves a challenge! The base can be one of ours or you can design around an old metal piece or even a plexi cylinder. Give us a call - we will be happy to do a custom quote for you.
Finally, we have our Bar Cart. Anyone who knows anything about oomph knows just how important this piece is to us. We feel a bar cart is essential to every home. How else can you mix an oomphtini in any room in your house? Ours has casters to move with ease from room to room following the party. We detailed it with our signature tini II shape handle cut-out. The top shelf is glass to keep an eye on your liquor supply on the painted raffia shelf below. This bar cart is both handsome and functional and will be an integral part of your entertaining – you’ll wonder how you lived without it!
More games – Our iconic Backgammon Table was so incredibly successful we had to try something new! This time it is the finish that has changed. This stand-out piece now comes in “driftwood” or a more traditional “walnut” stain. Both are made from hickory and are absolute classics! Each come with your choice of board color – grey and white, brown and white, or navy and white. Roll the dice and choose!
The Newport Side Table is the newest member of the Newport clan – and the most modest size offspring to date. This table has the Newport pedigree but sports the added flourish of the fancy stretcher. Like all oomph pieces, it comes in all our 16 highly lacquered colors and unique surfaces and will bring a jazz festival to every room it graces.
New York is where it all began. So even though we now have the America’s Mart in Atlanta and High Point on our trade show dance card, we remain true to our first beau and debut the new oomph on Pier 94. This week at the NYIGF, oomph will launch some exciting new pieces that have been six months in the making. Many times, the concept has been due to requests from our design customers who have scoured the market and could not find the right piece. We like to think they were not willing to settle for anything less than genuine oomph!
